Although the Classic Head Half Cent design was in use from 1809 to 1836, the complete series comprises only 13 issues. Of this number, the 1831 had an extremely low mintage of 2,200 and is most widely believed to have been minted in only in proof. The final issue of the series was made in proof-only format with some restrikes.

The highest mintage issue of the series was the 1809 Classic Head Half Cent, with 1,154,572 pieces produced. Outside the 1831 and the high mintage first year of issue, the other dates issued for circulation had mintages ranging from 51,000 to 606,000.
